Winter 2022 Championship Round 5

Winter 2022 Sprint Series Round 5 Supplemental Regulations

Updated Event Date, see below

To be held in accordance with the DDRS Sprint Series Rules. This race is for the 1989 BMW M3 Sport Evo.

Date: Saturday, February 19, 2022. Room opens at 9:30PM. Drivers meeting at 9:55PM. 10 minute qualifying session begins at 10:00pm, with races following thereafter. All times are EST except where indicated.

Venue: Maggiore East Circuit, Lake Maggiore region, Italy.

Race Length: Round 4 races will be 15 laps.

Entry: Drivers not already part of the series must send their race entry in the form of a friend request to itc42 via PSN.

Race Director's Notes: In a review of the track contract, an error was noted in the contract paperwork. Whereas the published schedule originally had us visiting this historic region of the Italian Alps on February 12, the actual contract specified February 19. The published schedule was released before we had a firm date for Round 5, which apparently lead to this issue. The correct date of this event is February 19. The DDRS event organizers apologize for any confusion.

The remaining dates on the calendar have been confirmed, and yes, there's only a two week break between rounds 5 and 6.

With that housekeeping out of the way, on to this week's event. The schedule is changed somewhat from our visit last year. The good news is that we're finishing the day earlier, with the final race getting the green lights at 6:15 in the evening (not 8:00pm, like we had a year ago). The organizers still have a full dance card of support races planned, but at least they did listen to us and get us off the pavement earlier. The down side is that our day begins earlier, so keep that in mind when planning your after-dinner entertainment for the prior evening.

Schedule: Our track time schedule for the event looks like this:

  • Race 1: 9:30am
  • Race 2: 11:30am
  • Race 3: 6:15 pm

Ballast: Drivers will be assigned ballast weights before qualifying, based on their standing in the championship. Your ballast weight must be set before you take the pavement for qualifying.

Drivers Meeting: There will be a brief drivers meeting prior to the start of qualifying. In it we will cover ballast weights, driving standards, and have time for questions and answers.
