Winter 2022 Sprint Series Round 3 Supplemental Regulations
To be held in accordance with the DDRS Sprint Series Rules. This race is for the 1989 BMW M3 Sport Evo.
Date: Saturday, January 8, 2022. Room opens at 9:30PM. Drivers meeting at 9:55PM. 10 minute qualifying session begins at 10:00pm, with races following thereafter. All times are EST except where indicated.
Venue: Sardegna "C" Reverse
Race Length: Races will be 23 laps.
Race Director's Notes: Unlike the last event, we'll be sharing the track again with a full slate
of support races. For those of you wondering why it still took all day to run the three
races last time, suffice to say that the debris field left over from the seventeen cars
edminus1
wrote off in pre-event practice proved to be quite the challenge to fully clean
up, as bits of broken glass, shattered plastic, pieces of brake rotor, and all sorts of
other car parts kept finding their way onto the racing surface. In order to promote the
fairest of racing, the downtime was required so that track maintenance could clean as
needed. By the way, if anyone is in need of a spare shift linkage for their car, let me
know. Track maintenance found one in nearly pristine condition, buried in the tire wall
off the end of turn one. You may need to first extract it from the tires into which it
was impaled before it might be of much use, so be forewarned.
But I digress. Round 3's slate of support races includes the first appearance of the Brazillian Mediocre Inline 4 Series (kind of a cross between Aussie Super-V8s and World Touring Cars, just on a lower budget), the Toyota SFR Junior series (Toyota SFR Racing Concept cars with a restrictor plate), an FR-S/BRZ/86 series we've not seen before, and our old favorites, the Touring Car Masters.
Schedule: Our track time schedule for the event looks like this:
- Practice: 6:20am
- Qualifying: 7:00am
- Race 1: 12:00 noon
- Race 2: 1:10pm
- Race 3: 5:00pm
Ballast: Drivers will be assigned ballast weights before qualifying, based on their standing in the championship. Your ballast weight must be set before you take the pavement for qualifying.
Drivers Meeting: There will be a brief drivers meeting prior to the start of qualifying. In it we will cover ballast weights, driving standards, and have time for questions and answers.
