Winter 2025 Round 1 Recap

What a night!

Thanks to everyone for a great round 1. We had some awesome door to door racing all throughout the field, a testament to just how much fun low horsepower cars can be. Here's the event recap:

Congratulations

Congratulations to PainlessInjury for his 2 wins on the evening! I think he'd have swept the night had it not been for his dodgy WiFi connection. As it was, he came from the back of the pack for both wins, an impressive feat, and one we've never seen before in any DDRS series.

Rain

We had our first exposure to rain! The Tsukuba circuit was a bit dicey in the wet, but due mostly to the rate at which the track conditions changed. It started damp, got really wet, it dried a bit, and then another band of rain to come through and make things interesting again at the finish. EdMinus1 had the unenviable position of the lead as the track wetted-up, giving all who followed a front row seat to watch just how quickly the track deteriorated. The changeover happened super fast, but the Comfort Soft tire seemed to be up to the task. (I think the S660 on CS tires is a good combination in the wet: the CS tires required a slightly softer set-up, and that made the cars much more manageable.)
