Winter 2022 Drink-Drive Endurance Championship

Drink Drive Endurance Championship (D-DEC for short)

Welcome: As we are enjoying the DDRS Sprint Races and competition has been great. I am creating the D-DEC as a spinoff to have the same amount of fun and competition. Listed below is an Overview and Guidlines of the D-DEC. They are not created to spoil the fun we are having. AS said and Overview and Guidelines of the series and any can be used by all participants.

The D-DEC is a new spin off championship of the DDRS. The Three (3) endurance races will occur within the schedule of the current series or after. Each race will last approximately 60 minutes. All penalties will be applied with the added bonus of Tyre wear and Fuel consumption. Pit stops will be a must. This championship will also consist of two (2) classes of cars "sharing" the track at the same time, N400 Mustang GT '15 and Gr. 4 Mustang. The added twist is the this is also a team event. Gr.4 Drivers and N400 Drivers will be teamed together in a random order.

As with the DDRS - The primary rules are simple - Be Honest (as this style of racing on this format does not allow for BoP to lock down the CAR SPECS). Finally, the last major rule is to have fun.

Yes, you read this correct, 2 classes of cars on the track at the same time. For some of you not familiar with type racing; it will require a lot of cooperation for both Gr. 4 drivers and N400 drivers. Gr.4 driver should not think that they have the right to the corner or all of the track at any time NOR does the N400 drivers. As Gr.4 drivers, you have the duties and responsibility of making safe clean overtakes. As N400 drivers, your responsibility is to maintain predictability while racing to ensure passes can be conducted safely. Both classes must work together and respect each class, each class has their own race. This will require a lot of cooperation for both Gr. 4 drivers and N400 drivers. Please use your mirrors and be use your situational awareness as you are racing. Any and all questions regarding this maybe asked during the drivers meeting.

This is an experiment....it may work without a hitch, or it will not. If we all work together, I think we can make this work and have a blast.

Drivers meeting

Please be respectful When the announcement is made for the meeting to start, please stop all communications so that the Stewart of the Meet can speak. Please reserve asking questions during this time. The Stewart will ask if there are any questions at the end of the meeting. I'm sure there will be a lot of questions.

Rules and Etiquette

DDRS rules will be carryover to this endurance series. No excessive chatter during the race. This will allow communications to be clear and precis between faster class and slower class drivers. If you as a driver feels you have been wronged by another driver. Please do your best to note the lap and time but continue racing. Which leads into Etiquette.

Driver Etiquette - As there will be different speeds between car classes. Drivers must use this to the best of their abilities. Faster classed drivers DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO A CORNER. Communications and Judgement must be used by both. IF this is not used, the results could end up with 2 cars involved in an incident and receiving substantial damage. And I don't think any of us want to limp our car back to the pits for repairs. To avoid most of these here are a couple of tips that may help: #1. Drivers of the slower classed (N400) cars, PLEASE do your best to stay predictable by remaining on the racing line. This may not always be possible especially you are racing another opponent. #2. The Gr. 4 Drivers, it is your responsibility to make the pass clean and leave safe racing room for both. #3. Exception of #1 and #2 is the N400 driver communicating with the Gr. 4 driver prior to the corner, if the N400 driver would rather be passed before corner entry. #4. If a Gr.4 Driver comes upon 2 or more N400 Drivers in a group racing. Please do your best to pass with minimal disruption with their race. This may not be 100% possible, we are not perfect, but these tips may help.

If there are any other questions regarding Rules and Etiquette, please feel free to ask.

Incidents and Penalties

On track incidents are subject to review if requested by a driver involved, POST race. If you are involved in an incident during the race and you feel it was a direct result from another driver. Please do your best to note the lap, time and the driver involved. The Chief Steward will ask both parties to explain their involvement. The Steward may ask other drivers not involved to provide a non-bias viewpoint of the incident.

If the Chief Steward is involved in the incident that is being reviewed. The group of drivers will be asked for a volunteer to step up to the Chief Steward position and oversee the incident.

If the review board finds a driver at fault for unavoidable contact or a breach of driver etiquette: no fault may be found - resulting in no penalties awarded, both drivers may be found at fault and no penalties awarded. Drivers found at fault results could incur - points deduction, position loss and points deduction, or worst case is a DNF infraction.

Practice Session

Practice time will in host room will be from the time the track is open and will last approximately 30 minutes.

Qualifying Rules

All competitors will qualify in the N400 Mustang (10 minutes session). Ater the session, drivers will return to the pits and wait for the Stewards to set the grid. This prosses may be done by splitting the grid equally or completely at random. So even though you may have the fastest qualifying time, you may be placed in either class of car. This is to ensure that no sandbagging is done throughout the field.

Grid

The Grid will be set by the Grid Steward and Grid workers. Please be patient as this prosses could take some time, depending on how hungover the Grid Steward is. (Equaling the 2-car field) example - if 10 drivers show up - 5 Drivers will be grouped in Gr.4 and 5 Drivers will be grouped in N400 class. If the room has an odd number of drivers registered, the classes will be set proportionally. The Grid will then be set. It could be set in fastest to slowest, reverse or at complete random. Both Classes will be Separate - Gr. 4 followed by N400 - Standing Starting.
