Winter Championship Round 4

Merry Christmas everyone! It is with much joy that we can finally announce the venue for Round 4 of the Winter 2021 Championship. We evaluated proposals from a lot of locations, and frankly it's been a really tough call. COVID has certainly compounded the difficulties. We very nearly had a deal signed for Brands Hatch, but the offer was pulled at the last minute, when England's South East started reporting an uptick in a new, more virulent strain of COVID-19. Other proposals from well known circuits in Austria, Germany, Australia, and Japan were entertained, but ultimately rejected for various reasons.

After a lot of careful consideration one proposal stood out, and we signed the deal just this morning. We're quite pleased to report that the DDRS Winter 2021 Series Round 4 will be returning to the picturesque Italian island of Sardinia (Sardegna to the locals), where we'll be running the 'A' version of their circuit: a fast and technical course that winds through both the permanent Sardegna course and some surrounding public roads.

Supplemental Regulations

Venue: Sardegna A

Race Length: Round 4 races will be 12 laps.

Schedule: Support races on tap for the event include Spec MX5, Corvette Challenge, a new BMW spec series based on the '03 M3, and some sort of Ferrari Cup race. If it's any thing like previous Ferrari Cup events, the only winners will be the body shops. But the spectators seem to enjoy it, so there you go. There was also a rumor of some sort of truck series race, but we're completely without details at this time.

Our on-track schedule for the day looks like this:

  • Qualifying: 7:00am
  • Race 1: 12:00 noon
  • Race 2: 1:10 pm
  • Race 3: 5:00 pm

Ballast: Drivers will be assigned ballast weights before qualifying, based on their standing in the championship. Your ballast weight must be set before you take the pavement for qualifying.

Drivers Meeting: There will be a brief drivers meeting prior to the start of qualifying. In it we will cover ballast weights, driving standards, and have time for questions and answers.
