On January 30, 2021, we'll gather for the Winter 2021 series awards banquet. This year we've booked the Four Seasons in Philadelphia. We'll have an open bar, and dinner will be a scrumptious Surf'n'Turf, so don't miss it! Open bar, dinner, awards and dancing begin at 9:30pm Eastern time/6:30pm Pacific.
After dinner and awards, we will teleport back in time a couple of months...
All season long, our racing has been slotted around the supporting series races. You've only been able to read about what you're missing. You've heard of their exploits, their daring-do. You got a tease at the Autopolis round. Now it's your chance to recreate the entire Touring Car Masters series from the Winter 2021 season: we're going to run the full TCM series in one exciting night!
Touring Car Master Rules
ELIGIBLE CARS: The race is open to the 1977 Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am only.
LIVERY: All cars must be painted and/or liveried in non-factory paint schemes. (Sorry, Smokey and the Bandit fans, you're gonna have to decorate up).
SCHEDULE: The room will open at 9:30PM EST / 6:30 PM PST. "Qualifying" will begin at 10:00pm EST / 7:00pm PST. Qualifying will be an open practice session about 10 minutes long. Race 1 will begin immediately after the qualifying period. Races 2, 3, 4 and 5 will begin approximately 5 minutes following completion of the prior races.
Race 1: Maggiore West, 18:15, 9 laps.
Race 2: Sardegna C II, 13:10, 13 laps.
Race 3: Autopolis Short, 16:00, 11 laps.
Race 4: Sardegna B, 13:10, 9 laps.
Race 5: Maggiore East, 18:15, 9 laps.
STARTING GRID: The starting grid for race 1 will be based on the results of a brief qualifying session. The starting grid for all subsequent races will be a reverse grid based on the prior race's finishing order.
TUNING: Tuning is prohibited. The cars will be run in their stock configurations.
TIRES: Sport Soft only.
FUEL: All competitors may be subject to random fuel testing throughout the event. Fuel consumption will be turned off however, so the technical inspectors should have no trouble drawing a fuel sample if needed.
BALLAST: No reward weight will be added.
DRIVER CONDUCT: The stewards of the meet agree that your entry fee has paid for use of the full facility, both the paved and unpaved bits. The stewards would like to remind drivers that even though the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is built like a tank and is not likely to suffer any damage from contact with barriers or other cars, racing is nonetheless a non-contact sport.
POINTS: Points will be awarded as follows:
Position | Points | Position | Points |
---|---|---|---|
1st | 20 | 9th | 7 |
2nd | 17 | 10th | 6 |
3rd | 15 | 11th | 5 |
4th | 13 | 12th | 4 |
5th | 11 | 13th | 3 |
6th | 10 | 14th | 2 |
7th | 9 | 15th | 1 |
8th | 8 |
No points will be awarded for pole position, fastest lap, or leading a lap. Points are awarded entirely dependent on your race finishing position.
CHAMPIONSHIP STANDING: Points for each race, will be totalled to determine the overall championship standings. In the case of ties, preference will be given to the driver with the highest overall finishing positions.
CHAT: In order to facilitate clean and respectful racing, all competitors must be in the host's chat room during this event.
TIMING AND SCORING: A known issue with Gran Turismo occasionally causes a discrepancy between the live timing screen and an individual competitor's own lap time card. The live timing system will be the primary source for determining lap times and therefore the starting grid for Race 1.
PRIZES: In keeping with the spirit of the entire Drink Drive Racing Series, trophies of truly priceless (worthless?) value will be awarded to the top finishers in the series. All competitors born between 1981 and 1995 (millenials) will be eligible for participation awards in lieu of actually winning anything.
