DDRS Spec C5 Cup Series Regulations

1. Driving Standards

Drivers in the DDRS are expected to treat others with respect. Rubbing is racing, but punting, push to pass, and other position changing contact is not. Competitors may not advance their position as a result of contact regardless of who caused the contact. If that means you have to stop and wait for someone to resume racing, that's what you'll have to do. Own your mistakes, forgive others for theirs, and remember: it's just a video game FFS.

2. Eligible Cars

Series is limited to the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5) '01. This car is available from the new car dealer generally and from the used car lot periodically.

2.1. Tuning

You are allowed to install the following go-fast parts:

  1. Tires: Sport Tires, Soft compound Only, all three compounds (Hard, Medium, Soft).
  2. Suspension: Non-adjustable Sport Suspension only.
  3. The wide-body kit is prohibited.
  4. Wheels must remain stock. Wheel offset must be standard. Wheel rim width must be standard.
  5. Front splitter: Type A may be installed.
  6. Side skirt: Type A may be installed.
  7. Wing: Type A may be installed.
  8. Hood pins are required.
  9. Tow hooks are required and must be properly marked.
  10. Roll cage: Type B only.
  11. Lightbulbs: Free.
  12. License plates: Free.

No other modifications are permitted.

Parts not specifically listed above are prohibited. Minimum vehicle weight is 3106lbs (1409kg). Maximum horse power is 384hp.

2.2. Livery

2.2.1. Cars competing in the DDRS Spec C5 Cup may carry any livery. Vehicle liveries are not required, but each car must carry the required minimum elements. Vehicle liveries must not violate DDRS community standards.

2.2.2. Team liveries are not permitted. Each car must carry a substantially unique livery.

2.2.3. A spec number ball, the 'DDRS Number Ball', is required, and is available from itc42. The number ball must lay on top of any other graphics on the car. It must be on the driver/passenger doors, may not straddle any door seams. The number ball must be scaled to 35% width and height.

2.2.3.1. Numbers are required on both sides of the car, and must be placed in the approved number ball. Numbers are not required on the nose or the tail of the car, but are permitted (and encouraged).

2.2.3.2. Door numbers must be black, and must be rendered using any of Helvetica, Arial, or the livery editor's stock font. The series organizer will provide individual competitor numbers upon request; pop a note to itc42 to request graphics for your number. The optional nose and rear numbers may be any size or style, but if present must be in a color that contrasts with the car's livery.

3. Series Format

Each race meeting will consist of the following:

  • A single 10-minute qualifying session to set the grid for the first race.
  • Three timed races, each race will be 25 minutes long.
  • The grid for race #1 will be determined by the qualifying times.
  • The grid for race #2 will be determined by finishing position from race #1.
  • The grid for race #3 will be an inverted grid based on finishing position from race #2.
  • Tire wear: x1
  • Fuel consumption: x1

3.1 Tire Compounds

3.1.1. Tire compound is limited to Sport Soft.

3.1.1. Competitors are required to make use of all three tire compounds during the course of the event, with one compound used for qualifying and race #1, a different compound used for race #2, and the remaining compound for race #3. Competitors may use the tire compounds in any order they choose, but must use all three compounds during the course of the event.

3.1.2. Competitors will use a different tire compound for each race. A compound is considered 'used' if the competitor starts a race on that compound.

3.1.3. Competitors that start a race on a disallowed tire compound must pit and change to a permitted tire compound within the first 5 minutes of the race. Competitors that fail to correct this infraction within the first 5 minutes of the race may be classified behind all other race participants.

3.1.4. Competitors must declare their tire compound choice prior to each session (qualifying & race 1, race 2, and race 3). The race organizer will poll each competitor for their tire compound choice prior to the session. For qualifying and race 1, the polling will be done in champioship points order, with the leader polled first, and the last place competitor polled last. For race 2 the polling will be done in order of finishing position from race 1. For the first event of the season, the order will be determined by the event organizer.

4. Series Specific Rules

4.1. Starts

This series will use Gran Turismo's standing starts. False start detection is disabled.

4.2. Circuit Selection

Circuits will be selected by the series organizer. The circuit will be announced when the room opens for practice. The circuit will be a real-world circuit, no fantasy tracks will be used. All competition will be on paved circuits only; dirt and snow tracks are right out. The organizer warrants the circuits will be selected randomly and announced immediately prior to the event, and that the organizer will NOT have any advance knowledge of the circuit selection.

Each evening's event venue will be selected from the following real-world circuits: Tsukuba Circuit, Daytona International Speedway, Red Bull Ring, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Fuji Speedway, Willow Springs Big Willow, Watkins Glen, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Autopolis International Racing Course, Brands Hatch, Suzuka Circuit, Autródromo de Interlagos, Goodwood, Mount Panorama, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Circuit de la Sarthe1, and Nürburgring (excludes all Nordschleiffe variants). Unless specifically indicated, all variants of a given circuit are eligible.

Each listed circuit is eligible to be used once during each season. This extends to any variant of a given circuit. For example, if Watkins Glen Short Course were to be selected for an event, then Watkins Glen Long Course would not be eligible for selection until the next season.

4.3. Circuit Conditions

4.4. Full Course Yellow

4.4.1 Purpose

Full Course Yellow (FCY) is a procedure used to temporarily stop racing in order to reset the effects of an incident involving multiple competitors.

4.4.2 Procedure

A Full Course Yellow is declared by any competitor at any time in response to an on-track incident involving multiple vehicles by saying "Yellow, Yellow, Yellow" in the group chat.

When a Full Course Yellow (FCY) is declared, all competitors will stop racing, maintain their track position, form a single file, and reduce speed to between 45 and 55 mph (70-85kph). The leader assumes the role of the pace car, and all other competitors will form up on the leader and circulate at the pace established by the leader.

Competitors must maintain the pace established by the leader until a restart has been declared at which point racing may be resumed. The driver responsible for the incident will be moved to the back of the field. It is expected that drivers will own-up to their mistakes. Other driver(s) involved in the incident may retake the position in which they were running at the time of the incident.

Restarts are declared by the last place driver only after the entire field has reformed in single file behind the leader/safety car. The last place driver will say "Go, Go, Go" or "Green, Green, Green", at which point all competitors may resume racing at full speed. The last place driver may signal the restart at any point on the circuit.

4.4.3 Disputes

In the event no driver is willing to voluntarily take incident responsibility, all drivers involved will be moved to the back of the field. Furthermore, a post-race investigation will be conducted by the series organizer and penalties may be assessed as appropriate. The series organizer's decision is final and may not be appealed.

4.4.4 Limitations

FCYs may only be called when two or more competitors are involved in a single incident. FCYs will not be called for single car incidents. In other words, if you take yourself out, sucks to be you. If you get taken out, you deserve a second chance. At least one full lap of green flag racing must be completed between successive FCY requests. FCY requests may not be made in the last 3 minutes (timed races), or the final lap (lap races) of the race.

4.5. Points

Points will be awarded as follows:

4.5.1. Bonus Points:

  • Fastest Qualifying Lap: 10 points
  • Fastest Race Lap: 10 points

Change log
