DDRS Coffee Cup Regulations

DDRS Keurig Coffee Cup Series Regulations

Driving Standards

Drivers in the DDRS are expected to treat others with respect. Rubbing is racing, but punting, push to pass, and other position changing contact is not. Competitors may not advance their position as a result of contact regardless of who caused the contact. If that means you have to stop and wait for someone to resume racing, that's what you'll have to do. Own your mistakes, forgive others for theirs, and remember: it's just a video game FFS.

Eligible Cars

Series is limited to the Honda S660 '15. This car is available from the new car dealer, for a very modest sum.

You are allowed to install the following go-fast parts:

Parts not specifically listed above are prohibited. Minimum vehicle weight is 1700lbs (773kg). Maximum horse power is 83hp.

Livery

Cars competing in the DDRS Keurig Coffee Cup series are required to carry a coffee-themed livery. This can be a coffee brand, or other brand commonly associated with coffee. For example, Hills Bros, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons, Mr. Coffee, etc. Cars not carrying a coffee-themed livery are eligible to compete, but will not score points for the round, nor for the championship. Vehicle liveries must not violate DDRS community standards.

Team liveries are not permitted. Each car must carry a substantially unique livery.

A spec windshield banner is required. The banner has been shared by itc42. The banner can be on any color background desired, although there should be sufficient contrast between the banner and the background to ensure it is easily readable. The banner should be sized at 675% width and height.

A spec number ball for the series is required. The number ball must lay on top of any other graphics on the car. It must be on the driver/passenger doors, may not straddle any door seams, and must be in line with the 'A' pillar. The number ball must be scaled to 35% width and height.

Numbers are required on both sides of the car, and must be placed in the approved number ball. Numbers are not required on the nose or the tail of the car, but are permitted (and encouraged).

Door numbers must be black, and must be rendered using any of Helvetica, Arial, or the livery editor's stock font. The series organizer will provide individual competitor numbers upon request; pop a note to itc42 to request graphics for your number. The optional nose and rear numbers may be any size or style, but if present must be in a color that contrasts with the car's livery.

Series Format

Each race meeting will consist of the following:

  • A single 10 minute qualifying session to set the grid for the first race.
  • Three timed races, each race will be 25 minutes long.
  • The grid for race #1 will be determined by the qualifying times.
  • The grid for race #2 will be determined by finishing position from race #1.
  • The grid for race #3 will be an inverted grid based on finishing position from race #2.
  • Tire wear: x1
  • Fuel consumption: x1

Series Specific Rules

Starts

This series will use Gran Turismo's standing starts. False start detection is disabled.

Circuit Selection

Circuits will be selected by the series organizer. The circuit will be announced when the room opens for practice. The circuit will be a real-world circuit, no fantasy tracks will be used. All competition will be on paved circuits only; dirt and snow tracks right out. The organizer warrants the circuits will be selected randomly and announced immediately prior to the event, and that the organizer will NOT have any advance knowledge of the circuit selection. The organizer further warrants that he's too busy trying to get maximum honor before advancing to chapter 5 in Red Dead Redemption 2 to bother with trying to sneak practice sessions in.

Each evening's event venue will be selected from the following real-world circuits: Tsukuba Circuit, Daytona International Speedway, Red Bull Ring, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Fuji Speedway, Willow Springs, Watkins Glen, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Autopolis International Racing Course, Brands Hatch, Suzuka Circuit, Autródromo de Interlagos, Goodwood, Mount Panorama, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Circuit de la Sarthe, and Nürburgring (excludes all Nordschleiffe variants). Unless specifically indicated, all variants of a given circuit are eligible.

Full Course Yellow

When a Full Course Yellow (FCY) is declared, all competitors should stop racing, maintain their track position, form a single file, and reduce speed to between 45 and 55 mph (70-85kph). An FCY condition is declared by uttering the exact phrase "Yellow, Yellow, Yellow." The leader assumes the role of the pace car. All competitors will form up on the leader and circulate at the pace established by the leader. Once the entire field has formed up on the leader/pace car, the driver in last position shall have responsibility for declaring the restart.Competitors must maintain the pace established by the leader until a restart has been declared at which point racing may be resumed. The restart is declared when the phrase "Go, Go, Go" is uttered.

FCYs may be called when two or more competitors are involved in a single incident. FCYs should not be called for single car incidents. In other words, if you take yourself out, sucks to be you. If you get taken out, you deserve a second chance. At least one full lap of green flag racing must be completed between successive FCY requests. FCY requests may not be made in the last 3 minutes (timed races), or the final lap (lap races) of the race.
